At PAX East James Ohlen, the Senior Creative Director for Bioware announced
"We have our update 1.2 coming in the next week..."
The AeonGuide team has been preparing for this for the last month and we have some major updates coming to the guide.
As we make this transition into the big new world of SWTOR post 1.2, things may look a little confusing for a few days, we appreciate your patience. We will keep the old stuff available until after the patch actually lands so there may be guides title similarly.
There are also some things we simply were not able to test on the PTS (Such as the new Flashpoint) so we weren't able to do a complete guide for everything new. Rest assured these will be top priority and should be available within hours or days of 1.2 landing.
We are aware the server lags sometimes and we have been working very hard to fix it.
We have upgraded the server, removed unnecessary plugins and software, and it has improved dramatically.
We will continue to monitor the performance very closely to ensure you can access the guide as quickly and easily as possible.
Thank you for your patience!
Check out the official Patch 1.2 notes!
In case you missed the Guild Summit last week there was a lot of talk about Patch 1.2.
There are no official notes yet but there are some key things coming to watch for:
Novare Coast A new Warzone! The rules sound identical to the Alderaan Warzone. Three capture nodes, the nodes will damage an enemy fortification, the team who holds more nodes for longer wins.
The other three Warzones, Alderaan, Hutt Ball and Voidstar will allow same faction queuing. Meaning Empire players can fight other Empire players, hopefully speeding up the queue times for Empire dominated servers.
The reward system in PvP is being completely reworked. 18 new medals are being added, certain medals will only be attainable by accomplishing certain goals. Such as capturing/defending nodes, winning quickly, etc. The idea is to encourage participation and smart play. New anti-abuse mechanics are being added, such as Vote-Kick.
A new tier of gear is being added, a tier above Battlemaster. Also a new tier on par with Champion gear that can be purchased with credits.
The Ilum PvP area is being shut down, they have plans to re-open it when it isn't awful.
There is a new Operation, Explosive Conflict.
The gearing is being reworked a bit, normal mode is being replaced with Story Mode which is designed to allow casual players to see the story. Hard Mode and Nightmare will be how players progress and get gear.
A new Flashpoint, Lost Land is being added. This will finish the story arc started in Kaon Under Siege. There is a Group Finder, but it will be single server only. This is supposed to be harder then current flashpoints.
Multiple World Bosses are being added, these will require a raid.
The Legacy system is finally complete, at least the first iteration of it.
This will include:
A family tree - Allowing you to put characters into a family. This has no real effect yet, and can only be done on your own characters.
Unlockable species - When you hit 50 on a race, you can then play as that race with any class.
Unlockable abilities - Once you hit level 50 on a class you unlock certain heroic abilities for all your characters. These abilities will require a companion so they won't work in Operations or Heroic Flashpoints.
Some other miscellaneous stuff:
Chat Bubbles are being added. For folks who like a lot stuff on their screen.
Combat log might be coming, but it is more likely it will be delayed.
Guild Banks, and an improved guild UI (Rumors say you'll even be able to invite people from the guild without typing their full name... fingers crossed).
Huge UI improvements. Basically allowing you to move and resize everything on the screen.
High Resolution textures are being added.
When you make an auction of the GTN you have to pay a deposit. You lose that deposit if you cancel the auction early. If someone buys the item, or the item expires, the deposit is returned to you.
While leveling always check the vendors at the major city on a planet, when you first arrive. They often have upgrades purchasable for credits.
Mod-able bracers and belts are rare, if you find one keep it forever! You can switch in better mods as you level.
The Empire side leveling guide for the planet Alderaan is now available!
Today was the first day of the guild summit.
Bioware invited a number of guild leaders from around the world to come to an event and discuss the game.
The whole event is being live streamed today, you can see schedule, and watch the live stream here: http://www.swtor.com/guildsummit
You can discuss the different panels here: http://www.swtor.com/community/forumdisplay.php?f=371
This is a great way to learn about some up coming changes and updates headed for SWTOR.
In case you missed it,
Bioware need guilds to volunteer to test their latest content. Most of use at AeonGuide have done, or are doing this kind of thing and from personally experience it is a lot of fun.
You'll get to test content while its still being worked on, and get to hang out with the Devs and GMs.
Worth checking out if your guild meets the requirements.
Today is the launch of SWTOR in the Asia Pacific territories! This includes Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
From all of us here at AeonGuide, welcome to SWTOR!
I wanted to take a moment and explain the lack of updates to these classes (Jedi Knight, Sith Warrior).
The author who was handling these was dealing with some IRL issues. They began as minor and he was able to continue working on AeonGuide. However, the IRL issues have increased their demand for attention and he has needed to readjust his priorities. We believe he has made the right decision, even though it has meant we have lost a great author.
With this finalized we have readjusted our staff and will have regular updates coming in for these classes. You should see updates as soon as today.
We sincerely apologize for remaining silent on this for awhile, we wanted to give him as much time as we could.
Thank you for your patience!
Have you been looking forward to visiting a planet covered with poison gases and mutated monsters? Well you're in luck!
The Quesh questing walkthrough guide is now live!
There are a number of great titles coming out this year.
Spent some time today cleaning up the link list. Our list of guides has gotten so long that we had to condense them down to sub-sections.
If you aren't able to find something in the new layout please let us know.
You can see the entire list of guide at the Complete Guide List.
Because development is ongoing during testing, it should be noted that all changes and updates listed in the patch notes should be considered incomplete and are subject to change or removal before release to the live servers. The Public Test Server patch notes will be provided in English. The final release notes will be provided in English, French, and German when the content is moved to live servers.
- The key formerly bound to /bug can now be mapped to any action and no longer opens the /bug window. The command is no longer able to be bound to a quickslot, but player can still type /bug in chat to open a new bug report.
Classes and Combat
- Using abilities with indirect targeting (such as area of effect abilities) will no longer cause players to be flagged for PvP if a PvP-flagged player from the opposing faction is within the ability’s range, and the ability will have no effect on the PvP-flagged player.
- Medical Therapy: Kolto Probe and Recuperative nanotech will now properly benefit from this skill.
- Carbonize: PvP armor for Combat Tech will no longer prevent this skill from stunning enemies.
Flashpoints and Operations
- Casting Mind Trap will no longer cause Soa to lose threat against his primary target.
- G4-B3 Heavy Fabricator now has fewer hit points in Normal Mode.
- “Show Usable” now properly filters to only show equipable items.
Missions and NPCs
- Unlikely Allies: Resetting no longer requires players to abandon and re-acquire the mission in order to complete it.
- Fixed a queue interface exploit that allowed players to bring additional players into a warzone. While imbalances can still happen under specific circumstances, the issue can no longer be intentionally triggered by players in this way. *UPDATED*
Alderaan Civil War
- The Eastern Turret no longer fires twice under some circumstances when it is captured by the Imperials.
- Added a /version command.
- Added several new preferences for cooldown appearance:
- Show Ready Flash: Toggles a bright flash when an ability finishes cooldown.
- Show Global Cooldown Ready Flash: Toggles a bright flash when an ability finishes global cooldown.
- Cooldown Style: Changes the art style for the cooldown graphic.
- Global Cooldown Style: Changes the art style for the global cooldown graphic.
- Show Cooldown Timer: Toggles cooldown time text on top of the ability icon in the quickbar.
- Sorting will now function properly in the Guild Window.
- Items placed in a quickbar are no longer removed when training abilities.
- Using Shift + Right Click to split a stack of usable items will no longer cause the item to be used.
Miscellaneous Bug Fixes
- Players will no longer experience occasional disconnection when purchasing Crafting Materials from the GTN.
- Fixed a queue interface exploit that allowed players to bring additional players into a warzone. While imbalances can still happen under specific circumstances, the issue can no longer be intentionally triggered by players in this way.
In case you missed it there was a great Q&A with SWTOR's Daniel Erickson, that touched on whats coming for the Legacy system.
You can read the whole interview here: http://www.swtor.com/blog/community-qa-feb-10th-2012
The first feature of the Legacy system will be to unlock new races for people to choose when creating a new character. Daniel stresses that the legacy system will grow and evolve through the life of the game.
We are still updating on a daily basis!
Check the Latest Guides and Updates box in the top right to see whats new!
Update: All issues should be resolved!
Hey everybody, we are experiencing some server issues.
Working on it just as fast as we can.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience!
We are aware the site is a bit messy as we have been adding content faster then we can organize it. We're gonna spend a day or two cleaning everything up and making everything more accessible. Until its finished some of the links may disappear for a while so if you can find what you are looking for be sure to check the Complete Guide Library page.
As always feel free to use the comments to ask any questions you might have!
